Fantasy again saves the best for last. We arrived in the beautiful city of Auckland and I am once again not disappointed. We spend the day sightseeing, beginning with the War Museum. Here Fantasy set up a guided tour, because we would have missed a lot trying to do this on our own. We had the opportunity to spend about 45 minutes on our own after the fact-filled guide took us through the museum. I felt a sense of such a sense of history looking at the ancient art and culture of the New Zealand people. I know I could have spent more time here, but Fantasy had a day packed full of adventure for us.
So, off went for a sail on the “Pride of Auckland”. It is a well-known fact that Auckland produces some of the best racing yachts in the world and its nickname is the “city of sail”. So, sailing in the Auckland harbor is another treat. We had a box lunch on board and some of our friends took a turn at the helm. We sailed past the Sky Tower where Fantasy booked our hotel stay. This is first-class as has been our total stay in New Zealand.
The final stop of the day is at Kelly Tarlton’s Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World. The highlight of this is the King Penguins, but I enjoyed seeing giant stingrays and sharks, also. I guess my favorite was the tiny little sea horses. Gosh! We still have our farewell to New Zealand dinner tonight in the Sky Tower Observatory. Tomorrow is Cairns and I am really psyched to see what Fantasy has planned for us in the “Land Down Under”, Australia. These last 28 days have been some of my most exciting travels ever.
