Shortly after we were all parked, we walked over to the gondola that took us up to Bob’s Peak. Here we rode a luge, a low cart with wheels that flew us down a winding track like racecar drivers, or maybe an Olympic luge team. It was so much fun we fought over extra tickets to go more than our two-trip ticket. After the rides, we met in the lounge to go to dinner. I don’t know what is more spectacular, the buffet or the view out our window seats. We are above Queenstown with The Remarkables mountain range as the backdrop.
As for the buffet, everyone said repeatedly that it was the best meal anyone has ever had at a buffet. Fabulous soups, the salad bar with whole salmon
posed on a platter, the ‘Main’ was a choice of venison and lamb was available among the usual pork and beef. Now, I say bring on the desserts. We should have had it first. New Zealand’s famous Pavlova and sticky date pudding were the highlights, plus lots of cakes, pies and chocolate goodies too. I ate two sticky date puddings with butterscotch sauce. Oh was my tummy stuffed!
