It’s hard to believe that we are leaving the South Island with it’s unbelievable scenery, southern Alps, wild west coast, and friendly people. We had an early wake up and drove the five minutes to the ferry terminal where we checked in and waited to load. We all walked the rows chatting with the locals and admiring a couple of Antique automobiles.
Finally we drove onto the ferry, drive straight on, turn and come up the other side so that we can just drive straight off when we arrive in Wellington. Our ferry was built in Holland so was very modern and sleek inside, like being in an Ikea store. This is Connie and Peter in the sitting area. We enjoyed a smooth, blue sky three hour sailing. Perfect day.
On debarkation we all caravanned over to the Te Papa Museum for a guided tour of the National Museum of NZ. Many of our group spent four hours here before driving the short distance to our RV park. There’s more to that story.
