We enjoyed a good night’s rest at a very nice hotel in Los Angeles with a late checkout as our flight to Christchurch was scheduled to depart 11:30 PM (with connecting flight Auckland). The flight left on time and we did get some sleep before landing on April 11 at 8:30 AM. The flight was only 12 ½ hours but we lost a day crossing the International Date Line – a day we will gain back when we go back to the States in June. As the Hotel in Christchurch was recently badly damaged by an earthquake, we didn’t stay in a hotel but, rather, picked up our Maui RV’s when we arrived, stopped at a Pac and Sav for groceries and went to a campground that was not damaged in Christchurch.
