Tonight was a very special night when we had a “Sounds of Silence” dinner in the desert under the stars. After watching the sunset on Ayers Rock (Aboriginal name is Uluru) where the colors changed from a bright orange–red to brown while we were drinking champagne, we were later led down a path in the red desert to an area where formal table with white table cloths were waiting for us. Dinner was served for us under a starry sky and there was unlimited quantities of wine or beer served while we feasted on Kangaroo, Fish, Crocodile Salad and a variety of other delicacies. We were then treated to a Didgeridoo concert under the stars, a discussion on the unique star patterns in the southern sky and an opportunity to see Saturn, with its many rings, through a telescope. This was dinner like no other which we will cherish in our hearts and minds forever.
