Left Franz Joseph at 8:30 AM towards Westport with many nice views driving and walking through the rainforest and along the ocean. We stopped at Bushmans Centre Café and took some pictures of animals and were amused by his posters. The guy had quite a sense of humor – one sign said that you are in a rainforest, it is a rainforest because it rains and if you don’t like rain you should have taken your vacation in the Sahara Desert, We stopped in Hokitika (Jade Capital of New Zealand) where we bought some Jade Jewelry for the Grandkids. We also stopped at Pancake Rocks for some fantastic views and even got a shot of a Weka bird crossing the road. We later caught another picture of one stealing a tourists purse (the blur at the right of the picture is the lady coming into the picture to recover her purse) at the Seal Colony where we saw many seals lounging on the rocks below.
