We left a very wet Napier campground shortly after our 8 AM trip briefing for a short drive to Lake Taupo.  We stopped at Waipunga Fall, about halfway, where we were greeted with blue sky and a very picturesque waterfall.
Rather than going directly to our RV Park when we arrived in Lake Taupo, we visited Huka Falls where massive quantities of brilliant, ice blue, water cascades through a very narrow gorge creating a mighty roar.  While we watched jet boats careened across the water and near the edge of the falls.

We also visited Craters of the Moon which looked like a small scale Yellowstone with Mud Pots and steam rising from the ground. The locals harnessed this natural wonder by creating a geothermal power plant to generate electricity.

After a 45 minute walk in this area, we visited the Honey Hive where they give free tastings and sell many samples of Honey and Mead (alcoholic beverages made from Honey) and a nearby Prawn farm.
