We arrived in Auckland, returned our motor homes, and transferred to a great hotel. After getting a good rest, we headed out on a bus excursion of the city which includes a tour of the outstanding War Memorial Museum .
This museum is so large and full of so many artifacts that it is not possible to absorb it all without a docent. I am in awe of all the Maori artwork. My favorite is a small statue of a warrior with eyes bulging and tongue sticking out in the traditional Maori way to scare their enemies, and a huge canoe carved from a Kauri tree. I wonder how long that took to make.
