This morning we rode a vintage train up to the top of the rainforest on a scenic railway….The Royale Service Train to Kuranda. We were served champagne and OJ along with fresh macadamia nuts as we listened to the commentary and watched the beautiful scenery out our windows.
When we reached the top we were in the village of Kuranda where we spent an hour and a half browsing the many opal shops and shopping for Aussie hats. Since it was Mother’s Day many of the ladies bought beautiful opals. The big treat for me was the ride down in a gondola over the rainforest. It is a magical 45 minute ride where not only are you over the tops of the huge trees in the forest but you can hear the birds as you glide along. Check out the video I took. Every day on this trip we wonder how can it possibly get any better than this?
