We loaded the buses at our campground in Omaru and went to see the rare yellow eyed penguins returning to the beach after a long day out fishing. This strong bird climbed so high up on the cliff that we were only about ten feet away!
Our Fantasy group had a nice drive today where we saw the majestic Southern Alps and Pacific Ocean. We stopped at the New World Market along the way and picked up some baked goods and more groceries. Tonight we saw Yellow-eyed Penguins – got a nice picture- and blue Penguins coming in from ocean and climbing up bank but were not allowed to take pictures of Blue Penguins as that would frighten them and cause them to retreat back to the ocean.
